Mastering Session 2 Voting
oldbobd:
Vote for the best master.
I'm trying something new - I've removed names from the postings so "who" did it doesn't affect your vote. When the winner is announced I'll publish the "key" so you know the names behind the master. I'll see how this works out (and feel free to PM me on this)

Submission 4 is the same filename as sub1. a typeo?
Silent Bob:
Looks like it. Just change "1" with "4" and it will work.
Dino Ziogas:
I voted for #3. It took care of most of the problems of the original mix but respected its character. It should have dealt with the balance of the song sections a bit and could have suppresed room sound as well but overall it's airy and clear. The overall level could have been brought up a tad with manual level riding of some peaks and parallel compression but it's really a matter of whether the client would like something louder overall [I don't].
#1 was rather condensed and obvious pumping can be heard. Sections are balanced, room sound under control and the level was brought up more but at the expense of clarity.
#2 Messed up the section balance, it actually sounds weaker on a couple of passages into the song and the balance of the instruments changed. Cymbal crashes sound harsh and overall sound is a bit cloudy.

I have to agree with Dino. I KNOW, just by hearing it, which one mine is LOL and it doesn't fit into the same class as #3.
I liked #4, and for vinyl it might do great, but #3 was warmer and brought out alot of subtleties that really cause the listener to ignore the performance issues and enjoy the piece as a whole.
