Mixing contest 3/26/2012
« on: March 05, 2012, 04:53:08 PM »
There's been some interest in this, so we'll jump right into it.  We're holding a mixing contest for mere kicks & giggles using a short jazz tune I recorded live as a part of the same session I used to post another tune recently.

All you have to do is respond to this message saying you're interested and on 3/19, I'll make the tracks available for download.  It's 8x 16-bit 48KHz tracks compacted into a single self-extracting EXE file of about 40MB so there shouldn't any issues downloading it.

We'd like stereo 16-bit 48KHz mixes and are still working on ways for you to upload it, but I'll keep you in the loop with those details.  You'll have until 3/26 to complete your mixing and then the voting will be completed by 4/2/2012.

We'd like a description of what you did - but you can keep it a mystery if you like.  No special rules or regulations here, just have fun.

New here so excuse any ignorance.
I am curious about this "competition" and have a question. Of course since I just discovered this I dont likely have time to prepare a submission, but for future use...... I might wanna "play"!
Do you intend that the tracks be used as is and just mixed, or may one cut/slice/dice/add/subtract, you know what I mean? What are the limitations?
Regards,
Mark

If you really want to take a shot at it, go for it, though I think the upload has expired already and I won't upload it again.  Do whatever you want to it as long as you don't add anything that wasn't already recorded.

Thanks Bob,

I have the tracks, and though I certainly dont have time to do much with them before the deadline I will probably use them for "practice", and watch for more future posts.

Will peoples efforts be posted here? Or in another area?

Just trying to learn all I can!

Thanks again!
Mark
