What I liked:
I bought this mic based on the type of music I play and what it brings out in my voice. This mic has an aggressive character; anything recorded will really stand out in the mix. It has a presence hump at 11K, making vocals incredibly clear but also lending a "vintage" quality. However, I have used this mic on a kick drum and it picked up that low thump very well. This mic is not thin sounding! It captures the lows in my voice beautifully. It is also quite fully-featured for its price: cardioid & omni, -10 db pad, bass rolloff, shockmount, screen, & case.

What I didn't:
I think this mic gets a bad rap, but I can see why. It has a lot to do with the increased presence at 11K. It has made me work a little harder recording acoustic guitar because the sound can be "stabby." The sort of 50s-60s old school quality it lends to vocals may not be everybody's cup of tea. While I love this sound with my particular voice, it might be too much, for, say, a wispy female voice. So for anyone who records a lot of different artists, this shouldn't be your only mic; you may want one with a flatter, rounder sound. Also, you can't activate the -10 db pad and the high pass filter switch simultaneously.

User Tips:
Audition this mic and compare to others in its price range. You may be surprised at how favorably it compares. I have a feeling it may drop even further in price. I would give it 4 CDs for the price.
