Technical Specifications:
What I liked:
this mic is very well constructed.its built as good as mics costing 3 times as much.it lists for around 1200.00.I bought mine new at guitar center for 525.00.Now the sound....amazing!warm and large. It sounds like a vintage tube mic.this mic is best used on lead vox.It would be a wise choice for a female vocal that might be thin.I tried it on a marshall plexi cranked, and it was glorious at 2 feet away.I even did a kick drum and with a little placement manuvering it was thunderous.there is a low warmth up close.Move an inch and it changes color. This is a world class mic that compared favorably to the neumann m147 in a direct side by side comparison. At the current price you have no excuse to not buy one.I bought 3.
What I didn't:
i didn,t jump up and down on the high freq.I used it on some chimes and it was not for that application.the shockmount is fair but doesn,t suck. This is not to be your only mic.It has personality(a cool one). There is not much to dislike about a high end tube mic at any price range, let alone 525.00 bucks.
User Tips:
This mic is unbelievably sensitive to placement.(a good thing). If this is your first pro mic you will learn alot about placement real fast.remember...its cardiod pattern.Hook it up stand in front and let it rip.(it can take it.)My tests were done without a standalone pre.I went straight to the console, dry no fx.
